In early April 2013 this farmer in North Carolina was disappointed once again with his chances of a windfall marshmallow crop when untimely rains drenched the region. “Marshmallows are a difficult crop, there’s really no doubt about that,” says marshmallow farmer, Ben Yoaken. He knows growing the cash crop is a gamble – one that could cost him his farm – and now his hopes and dreams lay water-logged on the ground.
